Het Wereldkampioenschap 2010 is namelijk enkele weken geleden begonnen en ons Nederlandse landje gaat naar de volgende ronde! Dat is geweldig nieuws. En om dat te vieren, heb ik een aantal patronen, muren en versierde meubeltjes gemaakt door De Sims 3, allemaal in voetbalstyle.

Veel mensen vragen zich af waarom er op de officiële Nederlandse Sims 3 site nog geen download staat van de nieuwe tool voor De Sims 3.
Het blijkt dat er in de Nederlandse versie een fout zit waardoor de Nederlandse versie van De Sims 3: Creëer een Patroon niet goed werkt op PC. De Nederlandse versie voor op de MAC werkt wel goed. De Engelse versie voor de PC en de MAC werken overigens ook goed.
We hopen dat deze bug voor de PC versie snel opgelost kan worden.

Het is de laatste weken een hype aan het worden om online magazines te maken rondom De Sims 3. Zo een magazine is Simtography magazine, Simtography is een site die zich voornamelijk bezig houd met Machinima en ook het Sims International Film Festival (SIFF) organiseert.
Shutterbugs is een onderdeel van Simtography en deze groep Simmers houden zich meer bezig met screens maken van het spel en in het zomer magazine staan handige tips om mooie screens te maken en te bewerken.
The big twist is the addition of karma points and powers. As you play, you earn karma points depending on how you play your character’s life. When enough karma points are gained, karma powers are earned and can drastically change the flow of the game. You can reward your character by granting him or her instant beauty or you can punish your character by bombarding his or her dwelling with a rain of fire. Other karma powers include cosmic curse, get lucky, poltergeist, and epic fail — you can pretty much guess what those do. Karma powers add another fun layer or manipulating life in The Sims 3.
For a franchise that gained its popularity on PCs and hasn’t done as well on consoles, it’s surprising that this version of The Sims 3 has the chance to trump its predecessor. At the very least, it should be on par with the PC game, but I can see many preferring it.

Now, arguably, this console version isn’t really for already-established PC fans of The Sims 3 (making my griping about the delineation from the standard aesthetic completely moot), but with such a delightfully new evil feature to try out, the market will still be there for those who don’t mind buying the same game twice. And while I’ve been reassured (read: yelled at by Internet commenters) many times that Sims 3 will run “just fine” on a console, that doesn’t change the fact that one of the most appealing features of Sims 3, the ability to mod the game and add tons of purchased and downloaded custom items, will pale in comparison. Don’t know about you folks, but there’s no way I can cram the same amount of content on my PC into a console experience. And there’s no way I’ll be able to put naked people on my Wii, XBOX 360, PS3, or Nintendo DS.

One problem people will have with this expansion is the limited number of professions. They are a fantastic addition to the experience if you want a Sim who’s a stylist, but players who prefer other careers are forced to miss out. We guess it’s too hard to give the journalist profession exciting gameplay? Then again, if you pursue every profession until you master it, there’s quite a bit of gameplay here. It’s just that not all of it will appeal to everybody. The stylist profession will probably be divisive in that regard, especially when dealing with picky makeover clients.
All told, Ambitions makes a lot of sense as an expansion, and it does a ton of things right. It’s certainly one of the meatier expansions in the franchise’s history in terms of sheer gameplay benefits, but it may segment its audience a bit too much, as not every profession will be enjoyable for every player.
