Hi
First of all we as Sims Nieuws really want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to ask questions about The Sims 3 Pets. We made a seperate topic for all the questions from our forummembers and recieved a lot of questions from them.
We’ve picked a few which were asked frequently.
Question from Blush
Is ithere a possibility that you are allergic for cats, dogs and or horses?Being allergic to fur is a trait that Sims can select in the console version of The Sims 3 Pets for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It’s pretty cute when the Sim sneezes – try adding them to a family with a pet for an amusingly dysfunctional household.
Question from Simpower16
Can your Sim die with an animal/pet/flies as the cause? When we added Pets to The Sims 3, we really wanted to focus on all the positive ways they can contribute to a Sim’s life, and emphasize what innocent creatures they truly are. While there aren’t any new types of deaths, the pets do have some unique moments with the grim reaper where they can save their owners.
Question from Mich…..
Will there be a new career? Such as a vet? There aren’t any new careers for the Sims as we really wanted to focus our attention on bringing the pets to life in The Sims 3 Pets. There are so many great new things you can do with your animals now that you’re able to play as them and see the world through their eyes! Additionally, each type of pet has its own way of earning money to contribute to the household, so there’s definitely new stuff to discover even if they aren’t official jobs.
Question from Verzinzelfiets
Can your Simpets turn into vampires or mummies?Creatures like the vampires and mummies are exclusive to Sims, but we didn’t want to leave animals out in the cold! The new creature in The Sims 3 Pets is actually an animal itself, the Unicorn! It’s the first time one has ever appeared in the Sims franchise, and we thought it was the perfect addition now that you can play as pets for the first time as well. You’ll find that they have all sorts of cool abilities, from magically growing plants to starting fires – they really adapt to the way you want to play your game.
Question from Snooty
Will dogs chase cats or all they all good buddies?Animals can all form relationships with each other, but in some instances it may be a bit more difficult, Dogs and cats are naturally a bit aggressive towards each other, and have to work harder before they can become friends. On the other hand, dogs are a Sim’s best friend – they get along marvelously in no time at all!
Can a cat really eat fish from the fishbowl as shown in the trailer or is it fake?
Cats love to watch fish in the fish bowl as their tails swish back and forth, but when it comes time to hunt they’ll go to a lake and dip their paws in before they pounce on an unsuspecting fish. If they’re skilled enough at hunting they can catch them!
Can you give newborn puppies or kittens to other Sims?
You can place your animals up for adoption if you choose to, and the adoption agency will take them away and ensure they find a good home. Alternatively, you can split your household in edit town and place specific animals in other families if you want total control over your experience in-game.
Question from Imme
Can your pets just walk in and out by using the door, or do your Sims need to open the door for them? Or will there be a doggy door?Pets are able to use doors unless their owners specifically don’t want them to. You can set each door to be individually locked so that pets aren’t allowed to pass through unless a Sim lets them.
Question from DENNUSZ
Is it possible for your pets to unlock new furcolours and furspots during their work? Our brand new Create-a-Pet mode offers way more customization options than you’ve ever seen in a Sim’s game before! With the new advanced mode, you have total control over every individual marking and spot on your pet, and can add them, reshape them, resize them, and recolor them in any way you see fit. All of this is unlocked at the start of the game so that you can create a pet that’s perfect for you.
Question from thesim3fan
Will there be chickens available in the new expansion pack which can eat the leftovers of the table? There aren’t any chickens, but sneaky cats and wild raccoons would be happy to eat any leftover food you leave behind!
Question from Pieen_:
Is it possible to have a farm or riding school for your horses? The brand new town of Appaloosa Plains is a Midwestern ranching community with lots of great open spaces for riding your horses. Of course you can continue growing plants with the gardening skill, and you’ll even find new options such as the carrot plant which horses love to eat. When it comes time for a Sim to learn the riding school, the new horse ranch venue is an excellent place to visit. It contains all sorts of fun racing and jumping obstacles, which players can fully customize before they start training.
Question from Arnoud:
What is different between the gameplay of the pets and Sims?Pets are fully controllable in a similar manner to the Sims, but considering they’re different animals, of course they have different needs and wishes that have to be met to keep them happy in life. Horses are large creatures, so they like to get out and exercise, and they build up a big thirst doing that. Cats are well known for their sharp claws, and if you don’t give them a constructive way to scratch, you may just find your furniture torn up. Dogs can get a bit destructive if they aren’t well trained, so if you don’t want them knocking over trash cans and digging holes in the yard, send them out into the world to work on their hunting skill!
Question from Yanyo:
Do your pets have to be a breed or is it possible to create something made up?One of the awesome things about the Sims is that you game can be as normal or as wildly creative as you want! Cats and dogs alone have over 100 real breeds for players to select from, but if you want to go nuts and create a fantasy creature that’s entirely up to you. Want a horse with zebra stripes? How about a skeleton dog? Perhaps a bright blue cat? The choice is yours!
Question from hiki:
Do the animals have flees or any other vermin on them?Cats and dogs have the chance to catch fleas, and similar to how they’re annoying pests in real life, you’ll definitely want to help your animal with them in the game. Pets who have fleas can start to spread them to other pets and even Sims as they interact with each other, until eventually you have a household going nuts itching and scratching themselves. Be sure to give your pets medicated flea baths!
Will the pets turn into ghost once they die?
Just like the Sims, when a pet dies of old age, there is a chance for them to come back as a ghost. It’s pretty spooky seeing a pup floating around with their paws hovering in the air – there’s even a small pet cemetery!
Again, thank you so much for this opportunity.
Yours sincerely,Sims Nieuws webmaster Hiki & The whole Sims Nieuws team
