Op IGN is een artikel verschenen over De Sims 4, het artikel gaat over het feit dat De Sims 4 18+ is gemarkeerd in Rusland. Dit vanwege de strikte regels die daar gelden over relaties met hetzelfde geslacht. Persoonlijk vind ik dit belachelijk, maar laten we daar maar niet over uiten voordat we Rusland op onze dak hebben! The Sims 4 has received an unlikely R18+ rating in Russia due to a law restricting the depiction of same-sex relationships to minors.
The rating was tweeted out by The Sims’ official Russian Twitter account, followed by an explanation to curious users.
“18+ [rating] has been assigned in accordance with the law number 436-FZ,” reads a translation of the later tweet via Ars Technica, “‘on the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development.”
The law cited by the account was passed in Russia in 2010 to prohibit all sorts of “information harmful to [children’s] health and development.” It was amended in 2013 to include “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships,” in keeping with Russia’s extremely conservative stance on LGBT rights.01:40Gamescom: The Sims 4 Stage Presentation
The Sims 4 will include representation of same-sex relationships alongside heterosexual ones, as the series has done since its inception. The game is due to be released on PC and Mac some time during the Northern autumn.
